Alabama Security License Renewal

Plan renewal around the expiration date shown on your credential. Use the current Board form for your license or certification, not an old packet saved from a previous renewal.

  2. PrepareTraining records and required items
  3. Submit and confirmUse the official route and retain records

Start before the expiration date

The personal-license renewal rule requires renewal on or before expiration. Late fees apply afterward. A personal license expired for two years cannot be renewed and requires a new application under current qualifications. Ask the Board about your particular status and any authority to work.

Use the current training instructions

The current guard renewal form calls for eight hours of refresher training and, for armed renewal, two hours of annual armed refresher training. Follow its credential-specific instructions, exceptions, evidence requirements, and the firearms qualification rule. Do not combine hour blocks or assume a general course meets every renewal requirement.

FINAL PREPARATION

Prepare a complete packet

  • Open the official forms page and select the correct renewal form.
  • Check required training records, signatures, identity documents, fingerprints, releases, and fees.
  • Confirm the accepted payment and delivery methods in the current instructions.
  • Keep a copy of your completed submission and payment record.
  • Use the Board contact page for receipt, status, or missing-document questions.

A training provider can provide instruction and completion records, but does not renew your license or decide the outcome. When arranging a refresher course, ask about its exact scope, documentation, schedule, total cost, and any practical qualification component.
