Compare learning format, location, and verified course offerings—without an implied ranking.
Featured placement, clearly explained. ASRBTraining.com and Blue Training Academy share common ownership and operational support. Blue is featured because of that relationship—not an independent ranking or a Board endorsement. The four detailed profiles below are selected for side-by-side comparison.

Course details checked October 25, 2026 against provider websites. Confirm current availability, acceptance for your intended path, and any practical requirements directly before enrolling. A listing is not a guarantee of licensing or employment.

USE THE PRIMARY SOURCES

Three official checks before you enroll.

Start with the Board’s list.

Use the Board’s training directory as an official starting point, then compare each academy’s current offering with your actual training need.

Verify the trainer.

Ask the academy for the instructor’s name and certification number. Use the Board’s Certified Trainers Search; an academy listing is not a verification of every instructor’s current status.

Check the completion record.

Ask how the course, completion date, contact hours and certified-trainer details are documented. Keep training records for the separate state application process.

Official Board pages and linked forms checked October 26, 2026. All four selected academies appear on the Board’s training page; individual instructors’ license statuses have not been checked here. Listing is not a ranking or an endorsement.

MATCH THE COURSE TO YOUR GOAL

Three paths. Different questions.

Choose a path below, or scroll through the three guides. This slider is manual—nothing moves automatically. The official sources determine the requirements for your situation.

INITIAL TRAINING

Start with the unarmed requirement.

The current training rule specifies at least eight hours for a security-officer applicant, subject to the qualifications and exemptions in the full rule. Ask whether the course fits the application you intend to submit.

Ask the academy: Who is the certified trainer, what does the course cover, and what completion records will I receive?

Read the unarmed planning guide →

TRAINING + QUALIFICATION

Confirm the complete armed pathway.

Confirm training and firearm-qualification requirements with an appropriately certified trainer. An online unarmed course should not be treated as a substitute for the armed practical requirements.

Official hours need clarification. The rule states 14 hours; the current application lists eight basic hours plus four initial armed hours. Do not assume the form’s sections establish the complete total. Confirm with the Board and certified trainer before paying.

Read the armed planning guide →

REFRESHER TRAINING

Plan around your expiration date.

The current renewal form specifies eight refresher hours and, for armed renewal, two hours of annual armed refresher training. Follow its credential-specific instructions and required documentation; do not assume any general course meets every renewal requirement.

Ask the academy: Does this course match my renewal need, and does it include any required practical qualification?

Use the renewal planning guide →

A course certificate is not a license. Training completion does not issue a state license or guarantee approval. Follow the Board’s current application and temporary-license instructions; ask the Board about your own status. Understand the difference.

BEFORE YOU ENROLL

Ask every academy the same questions.

  • Current listing: Check the Board’s training information and trainer credentials.
  • Course fit: Confirm the exact course for your intended role.
  • Format: Ask which parts are online, classroom, practical, or range-based.
  • Full cost: Ask about tuition, materials, equipment, range fees, and retakes.
  • Availability: Confirm dates, access period, and the current venue.
  • Completion: Ask what documentation you receive and which licensing steps remain.
Verify with the official source. The Alabama Security Regulatory Board maintains the official training information. See the Board’s complete provider list · Verify credentials. ASRBTraining.com is a privately operated guide, not the Board.
