This overview explains the usual Alabama armed security officer path in plain language. The Alabama Security Regulatory Board controls the official requirements, forms, and every licensing decision.
What the current rule says
The current Alabama rule states that an Armed Security Officer applicant must complete at least 14 hours of Board-approved classroom training with a Certified Trainer before applying. Before using any firearm for regulated security work, the officer must also successfully complete the appropriate Board-mandated qualification course for the make, model, and caliber of firearm to be used.
Required firearms safety training includes qualification with the applicable firearm, Alabama use-of-force instruction, and safe firearm handling and storage. Review the full rule because exemptions, documentation requirements, and other licensing conditions may apply.
Practical checklist
- Review the current official training rule.
- Confirm that the Armed Security Officer category applies to the work you plan to perform.
- Use the Board training-provider page to identify an appropriate current provider and Certified Trainer.
- Complete all applicable classroom and firearm-qualification requirements and keep the required training records.
- Follow the Board’s current fingerprint, background-check, release-form, fee, and application instructions.
- Submit the official application and required items using the Board’s method, then wait for the Board’s decision before representing yourself as licensed.
Training is not the license
Completing classroom or firearm training does not itself issue an Alabama license. The Board—not ASRBTraining.com or Blue Training Academy—decides whether an applicant qualifies for licensure.
